Game WQ : Watch Dogs

Turns out there was a surprise tucked away in Ubisoft's E3 press conference after all. It's an all new franchise called Watch Dogs, and it looks to combine old-school hacking games with new school third-person action. While I was a bit disappointed when protagonist Aiden Pearce ditched his hacking gadgets for handguns in the gameplay demo, Watch Dogs has me intrigued.

In development at Ubisoft Montreal, Watch Dogs puts players in the shoes of a character who has access to, well, everything. From security cameras, to cell phones, to banking records, Pearce can manipulate technology to do his bidding, and according to Ubi, his bidding is to "take down a corrupt system."

"Watch Dogs goes beyond the limits of today's open-world games by giving players the ability to control an entire city," Creative Director Jonathan Morin said in a statement. "In Watch Dogs, anything connected to the city's Centra Operating System becomes a weapon. By pushing the boundaries, we can provide players with action and access to information on a scale that's never been seen in a videogame before."
